Catatonia in Parkinson’s Disease

Presented herewith is a case of Catatonia in Parkinson’s disease. A 55-year-old man was diagnosed with Idiopathic Parkinson’s Disease with psychotic symptoms. On examination, he had mutism, negativism, rigidity, and withdrawal with Bush–Francis Catatonia Rating Scale (BFCRS) score of 13. He refused food, water, and medications despite quetiapine 300 mg/day. A diagnosis of catatonia in Parkinson’s’s disease was made in the absence of fever and elevated white blood cell count.
